Orbisonia Scale

Mile Mark: 11.00
Elevation: 630'
Date Built: ca. 1917
Published Photos: EBT 158, SGS 46

This scale was installed about the same time the Car Shop was expanded to three tracks.

It was used to weigh empty freight cars, usually after being rebuilt. The "ORB WT" mark signified the weight at this scale and could be used with the loaded weight to calculate the cargo weight.

The scale and its shed were removed sometime after the end of regular operations. The concrete liner of the scale pit can still be seen.
